Výlet Fernanda Verdasca s rodinou v Bratislave sa uskutočnil v utorok, keď mal voľno a oddychoval po pondelkovom úspešnom vstupe do turnaja Bratislava Open 2023. „Tento rok je pre mňa veľmi náročný, keďže bojujem s boľavým ramenom a lakťom. Keď som v pondelok zvíťazil v prvom kole dvojhry v Bratislave, bola to pre mňa veľká úľava. Víťaziť znova je úžasný pocit. Dúfam, že budem schopný hrať aspoň do konca tejto sezóny,“ povedal nám Verdasco, ktorý je v Bratislave aj so svojou rodinou. „Moji dvaja synovia a rodina sú vždy so mnou. Podporujú ma. Je potom ľahšie zvládať túto náročnú situáciu, keď sú blízko pri mne,“ priznal sa Španiel, ktorý naposledy hral v Bratislave v roku 2005 počas daviscupového duelu so Slovenskom. Domáci vtedy zvíťazili 4:1 na zápasy. „Prehral som s Dominikom Hrbatým, ale bola to skvelá skúsenosť. Pamätal som si, že som bol pred 18 rokmi v Bratislave, ale nevedel som, že je to skoro na rovnakom mieste, kde sa teraz koná turnaj. Som veľmi rád, že som späť na Slovensku predtým, než ukončím kariéru,“ dodal Fernando, ktorý navštívil s rodinou aj reštauráciu Au Café pri Dunaji a pozrel sa na mesto zhora z Vyhliadkovej veže UFO.
